In person: What to say
Nervous about asking for donations? Follow this guide and you’ll be helping free kids from child labour in no time. "Hi [Donor’s name]. How are you? I’m doing the World Vision 40 Hour Famine in August this year. I am going without (insert your Famine challenge here) for 40 hours to raise money to help kids in India who are forced into child labour, trafficking and slavery. Did you know that just $40 helps 8 kids for a month? My goal is to raise $240. Could you please support me and them by making a donation?" When they say "yes" explain they can give cash or a cheque now, or give them your Famine book number for them to donate online at 40hourfamine.com Then say "Thank you!" *(If you’re at primary school, you can only go without food for 8 hours). The 40 Hour Famine is a community education and fundraising initiative of World Vision Australia. |
