One Life - what was it all about?
For two weeks in July 2007, Australians were given a unique opportunity to experience life in Africa through an extraordinary walk-through installation - the One Life exhibition.
A total of 2,262 visitors saw first-hand what life is like for many African children and reflected on the differences and similarities that we share in the world together. Participants in both Sydney and Melbourne were taken on an journey through sound, images and interactive displays. They saw the amazing strength of people like Beatrice, Timothy and Olivia, and marvelled at their resilience in facing each day with renewed hope in the face of such hardship.
What impact did One Life have?
Visitors to the free One Life exhibition were moved by the powerful and unforgettable stories. Here are some of their comments:
"This should be mandatory viewing for all students"
"I want to do more to help the people - not just the situation"
"Determined to get others to understand what it is like for people to act and not just look on."
"Very challenging. Thought provoking - emotionally, spiritually and intellectually challenging and has moved me to
consider taking a more pro-active role in assisting these people."
"Vicariously responsible to do something about this injustice."
